  • What are the operating costs for setting up a lithopone manufacturing plant?
  • The global barium sulfate market is subject to fluctuations due to changing economic conditions and environmental regulations. The increasing demand from the oil and gas sector, driven by drilling activities, has been a significant driver for barium sulfate production. However, the market is also influenced by the growth of the paint and coating industry, where barium sulfate is used as a to improve the opacity and durability of coatings.
  • The anatase price is influenced by several factors, including production costs, raw material availability, and market demand. The production process of anatase involves complex procedures that require specialized equipment and skilled personnel. This, in turn, affects the overall cost of production, which ultimately impacts the anatase price. Moreover, the availability of raw materials such as ilmenite or rutile, which are essential for producing anatase, also plays a crucial role in determining its price. If these materials become scarce or their prices increase, it can lead to a surge in the anatase price.
  • In conclusion, the use of TiO2 spans across multiple disciplines, reflecting its versatility and significance. As technology advances, the role of TiO2 is expected to expand further, playing a crucial part in our daily lives and technological advancements. Its continued study and innovative application will undoubtedly lead to more sustainable and efficient solutions in the future.
  • Moreover, Sachtleben's research and development team continuously explores new frontiers in TiO2 applications
  • One of the key advantages of purchasing titanium dioxide from wholesalers is the cost savings that come with buying in bulk. Wholesalers can leverage their purchasing power to negotiate lower prices with manufacturers, passing these savings on to paint companies. This allows paint manufacturers to reduce their production costs and remain competitive in the market.
  • The factory price of TiO2 fluctuates based on various factors such as raw material costs, production efficiency, and market dynamics. The titanium ore, primarily sourced from minerals like ilmenite and rutile, undergoes several stages of refinement before it can be converted into the pure white pigment we know. Each step in the process influences the final cost, making the streamlined operation of TiO2 factories paramount.
  • In the cosmetics industry, titanium dioxide is used as a sunscreen agent to protect skin from harmful UV rays. It is also used in makeup products such as foundations and powders to provide a natural-looking coverage and a radiant finish. The micronized form of titanium dioxide is particularly effective at absorbing UV light, making it a popular choice among consumers who are concerned about sun protection.

  • Micronized TiO2 factories employ sophisticated processes that ensure a consistent product with precise particle size distribution. The production process begins with raw ore extraction, followed by beneficiation to remove impurities. The refined ore then goes through a chemical process that converts it into titanium dioxide. This conversion typically involves the sulfate or chloride process, where the ore reacts with sulfuric acid or chlorine gas, respectively.
  • The commitment to excellence does not stop at production methods; it extends to the research and development of new lithopone formulations

  • We've used titanium dioxide safely for decades. However, recently its safety was called into question.

At CRIS, we've explored the safety of titanium dioxide for nearly half a decade, including conducting double-blind research to test the safety of food-grade titanium dioxide (E171). Our study shows that when exposed to food-grade titanium dioxide in normal conditions, research animals did not experience adverse health outcomes.

It's important to emphasize that in a National Institutes of Health study, experimental animals were exposed to titanium dioxide in amounts as high as 5% of their diet for a lifetime and showed no evidence of adverse effects.

A handful of studies greatly influenced the decisions made by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Unfortunately, these studies did not consider that titanium dioxide exposure comes from food, not drinking water. Additionally, CRIS researchers could not reproduce the adverse outcomes identified by the studies through typical food ingestion. Regardless, the EFSA banned E171 as a food ingredient and for use in other capacities in the summer of 2022.

In 2022, the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada maintained that the scientific evidence supports that titanium dioxide (E171) is safe for humans to use and consume.
